White/Blank pages after network changes

Hello, 

we are using Acrobat Reader DC in Version 2019.021.20058.

The problem is, that after any change on the network connection of a PC an opened document shows blank pages. 

Sometimes it is usefull to open some documents (saved on network shares) before going to a meeting. When you disconnect the network connection and take a look at the opened document, there are still one or two pages with the content, but when scrolling down, there are only blank pages.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hi,

 

While I haven't found a full solution to this issue I have found a workaround for one of my end users. They're specific issue is when traveling between the office and home they were disconnecting from our work network and the files that were opened from a shared network drive would be totally blank when they woke up the device. I was able to get them to use the work around below after they re-connected to the domain and the network drives came back. 

 

In Acrobat DC under Edit > Preferences > General there is a checkbox option to open PDF's from the last session on Acrobat Launch. The user was able to close Acrobat before leaving then connect to our VPN once at home. When the network drives were available again they opened acrobat to find all their files.

We are sorry for the trouble. A described above, PDF shows white/blank pages after network changes

 

For the testing purpose, please try to disable the protected view. Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Security  > Disable the protected view and uncheck the Enhanced security > Click OK and reboot the application and check.

Note: Please turn off the security after testing irrespective of the result

 

Also please try to add the location of the file and the folder to the Acrobat Reader. Go to Edit (Windows), Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (Mac) > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Add File and Add Folder Path > Click OK

thanks for your reply on this! I tested all these, but none of them fixed my problem.

Any other ideas?

It is with all files located on a network share. If I download it to my computer everything works fine.

Thanks for sharing the observation.

 

As described, everything works fine when you download the file to your computer. It seems to be some settings with the shared network drive and group policy which is causing the issue. Please contact the organization's IT team to get this checked.
