Question

white screen with blue spinning circle

The software updated itself with a new look version yesterday. Since then, every time I open a pdf file to Adobe Acrobat, after a few seconds a large white box appears with a blue spinning circle. This effectively freezes the software and I cannot get past it. I have to End Task for Adobe Acrobat via Task Manager to close down the software.

I had this problem until today 10th Feb 2024. I tried many things including uninstalling Reader with AcroCleanerTool - https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html , then reinstalling but the problem persisted.  By the way, I couldn't use the 'normal' uninstall method via the Control Panel->Programs and Features as this gave a Windows message "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists....... etc".

Having found this thread and read all the comments, I again uninstalled Reader with AcroCleanerTool, then installed the 32-bit version and the problem was SOLVED for me.

To install the 32-bit edition,

- go to get.adobe.com/UK/reader

- scroll down to the heading "Included with your download"

- Ignore the blue "Download Acrobat Reader" option, and click just underneath on "More download options" in tiny writing. This will open a pop-up window.

- Make sure the Operating System and Language options are correct for your environment

- the Version option will be defaulted to the 64-bit version, so click on the down arrow under the Version heading.

- make sure you select 'Reader 202x.xxx.xxxxx English UK for Windows' (I.e. the 32-bit version)

- now click "Download Acrobat Reader" in that pop-up window and follow the installation instructions.

This worked for me. Good luck!

Try this out: uninstall - run AcroCleaner  https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html - redownload and reinstall Acrobat.

Hi @James3261927055i3

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out.

This issue is reported to our engineering team and is being worked on. The fix will be available in the future updates.

As a workaround, please remove the application using the Acrobat cleaner tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html  , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the direct link
https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html nd see if that works.
