Why are colors gone from comments pane?

I don't know which version update to Acrobat Pro DC caused this (I currently have 2019.008.20081), but recently the comments pane/comments list (I don't know what it's actually called) has lost all color coding. It used to be that the names of different commenters would show up in different colors, and the comment currently selected had a beige background so you could easily see where you are. Now everything is white or gray, and it's hard to see what's going on. Is there any way to bring color back to that pane?

Here is a small screenshot I found in an old email, next to a view of what it looks like now. Notice how it would be hard to scan for a name (e.g. Karen) through dozens of comments and replies that looks like this.

You are not alone.
Continues in March 2021.
Using Build: 20.6.20034.366983

yet versions in between your comment in 2018 and 2021 DID show the color, so my guess is a setting that just happens to be difficult to find, or is excluded from the GUI.
