I have tried to uninstall it many times and then it is a little better, but then it goes back to being slow when scrolling.
I appreciate any help
Edit --> Preferences ---> Commenting---> uncheck "show comments pane when a pdf with comments is opened".
This should solve the problem. 😉
Thanks for the tip, Amal! Acrobat was more like Arthritic on my iMac, but deleting its preferences and reopening Acrobat got it up and running like it used to run. Thanks again!

Hi there
Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described the application is slow on scrolling.
Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. If the file is stored on a shared network/drive please download it to your computer first and then try again.
What is the build/version number of the Adobe Acrobat Dc you are using? To check the build/version go to Help > About Acrobat and check the version number and the build 64bit/32 bit and make sure you have the recent version 21.07.20099 installed. Go to Help > Check for Updates and reboot the computer once.
Also go to Adobe Acrobat > Preferences > Page Display > Rendering > Uncheck 'Use page cache' > Click OK and reboot the computer once.
Try to reset the Acrobat preferences as described here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-defau... and see if that helps
You may also try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there.
Regards
Amal

It is quite terrible. Cannot believe it's 2022 and the issue still persists.
I have disabled "Use page cache" and also, under Reading, I have chosen to render only the currently visible pages.
Still, on my brand new MacBook Pro, this is the *only* app that is slow as a slug. I absolutely cannot stand it any more. Even though it offers more options than Preview, I am switching back to Preview as my default PDF viewer...

I have now switched to Skim and UPDF. Love both of them. A million times faster than Adobe Reader, and they cover all my needs.

Making the move too... cannot believe how slow the reader is. I wish I was able to disable / remove unessecary features. That probably would have helped...

Resetting the preferences has worked for me. Now runs very good as far as I can judge in the shortness.

Thanks for mentioning UPDF, I've never heard of the program but just downloaded it and wow it is so much quicker! I thought there was something wrong with my iMac 3 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5 with how slow Acrobat was loading files, turns out my computer is fast, just the program I was using wasn't!

@ Acrobat Support- Acrobat Reader is terribly slow on Mac Book Pro, whilst I tried all options but it does not work. At least this application is not for Mac users. There must be a word of caution for Mac users officially by the company. If this application works slow on i-9 machine with 16 GB RAM then god help how it will respond to computers with average configuration.
Best Regards

I see these instructions all the time everywhere and they do nothing. I am on the very latest version of MacOS 14.5 and the latest version of Acrobat Pro and I am dying inside over the blatantly horrific new version of Acrobat that hangs ALL THE TIME. The time it takes to just close a tab is mind numbing at time. Yesterday I did the fill removal of plist preferences desparate for any solution and it was a total waste of time. And of course now I am back int he horrible new UI. Why can't Adobe just fess up and admit that there is a major problem and tell me what to do to avoid it while its being addressed.
