Inserting a page creates a small page not the same size as the other pages.

Depends on what settings you used when creating the PDF file from the image, vs. what settings were originally used...

Inserting one file into another does not change the page size of either file so they match. If the page you're inserting is smaller than the other pages in the file, that's not going to change. PDF pages exist independently of each other and can have different sizes.
If you have Acrobat Pro DC you can use the Preflight tool to scale your pages to the same size.

Thanks for responding so quickly! Maybe I needed to give more info. I was given the source file from which the original PDF was created. I simply replaced an image and exported the file as a PDF. So, technically, this should have been the same size, no? Or am I thinking incorrecty.

This is what I figured could be the only possibility. Is there some way to find out what settings may have been used on the original?

Ask the person who created the original file...

LOL. OK. Gotcha Thought there was perhaps some secret setting display within Acrobat from which I could glean this information. Darn! Was hoping that I didn’t have to reach out and ask that question to the originator…but…sigh looks like I will have to.

Good morning.
After waking up from some refreshing sleep this morning, It occurred to me to check the properties of the PDF file. I opened the file in acrobat and did File>properties where I noticed that the page size on the original document was set to 41.32 x 53.40 in!!. The final document was to be an 8.5 x 11 annual report. I have no idea why the original designer set it up with such large dimensions.
Anywhoo...I went back to Photoshop and changed my page size to match the newly-discovered size and Voilà ! My inserted page now matches the rest of the document. I would NEVER have thought that someone would set up the document to be so large...knowing the final doc's size. **SIGH**
I guess every obstacle is meant as a learning block on which to build a more solid understanding of life.

I had the same problem but I don't have photoshop. I took the PDF with an oversized page size and printed to a new PDF, using the scaling feature so the new document was 8.5" by 11". Then, when I interted the printed PDF to my document, the pages were the same size.
