Question

Why the signin requirement for retail purchase (from Amazon)?

Hello, I purchased and downloaded Acrobat Pro 2017 from Amazon. Very easy retrieval of the installer and the key.  This product is going onto a beefy laptop which is used by a lot of folks.  I install the product as myself (domain administrator) and input the key, no problems on install.  It IMMEDIATELY asks for an Adobe ID logon... hmmm.  Why?  OK fine, I issue it my Adobe ID, and continue. The product is working. I have the first user come in and log on with their profile.  It IMMEDIATELY asked for a logon... again.  Why?  OK, fine, I issue it my Adobe ID again.  Product is now working.  User has unbroken streak for a few days of shutting the laptop down, logging back in, continues using Acrobat Pro 2017.  Then poof - login REQUIRED or the product won't run.  Get the laptop brought back in here. Log on as myself, try to launch the product (which again, had been used once as me to just open any old PDF on the file server) and poof - login REQUIRED for my account as well.

I need to get this solved.  The product has been issued its license key for local use during installation.  I'm having to revert back to Acrobat Pro X because it locally installs correctly, and the licensing and activation are permanent on the unit.

Why is Acrobat Pro 2017, downloaded from Amazon, unable to stay activated? What is the correct way to disable the perpetual signin check?  These users DO NOT have adobe IDs, nor do they need them.  And mine obviously is no good, so... did I get the wrong version?

I see this is a common problem for requiring an Adobe ID on a product that does not need it.  There is no creative cloud installation on the laptop. Just a full local installation of Acrobat Pro 2017, yet it behaves as if it's a cloud product.  Please help.

it sounds like you're using acrobat illegally.  ie, it sounds like you should have an enterprise license and you're using a single-user license, but i could be wrong so don't get upset.

you should contact adobe support to get a better informed answer:  using a browser that allows popups and cookies, contact adobe support during pst business hours by clicking here and, when available, click 'chat', https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

That's the license I was issued from Amazon to install, I just needed the one copy for that laptop.

Has their licensing model changed? If each user needs a cloud ID to run the product, I will need to transition to different PDF authoring software.  What I ordered was a full Pro copy to install on a laptop so multiple people can use it, no different from Microsoft Office or Ipro Eclipse or any of the other licensed products I've installed.

This is an adobe change behind the scenes I'm unaware of, which is making something formally legal and normal into supposedly "illegal"... and again, Office 2016 local install behaves properly.  any user profile that uses the laptop, can use the software.

one single-user license is for one user.  that's been adobe's policy for as long as i can remember.  there's been no adobe change behind the scenes or elsewhere of which i'm aware.

in any case, these are user-to-user forums.  contact adobe.
