The reader works with 25.001.21265 update, but “WinHttpWebSocketCompleteUpgrade” error is NOT fixed.

For a 64-bit system, having this in x64 fixed that (and reportedly original) problem:

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015

Hi Anan,

Many thanks for the update.  I too get the WinHttpWebSocketCompleteUpgrade messages, so hopefully that problem is now fixed.  However, my immediate problem is that I still get the error  message "Missing api-ms-win-core-winrt-|1-1-0.dll" on starting Acrobat Reader.  So I can't even start Acrobat Reader to get to the “Menu>Help>Check for Updates” link you mention.  Twice I've re-installed Acrobat Reader (version for Windows 7) from the adobe website, as suggested on the error message, but no change.  Please, how do I get past the "Missing api-ms-win-core-winrt-|1-1-0.dll" error on Acrobat Reader startup?  Many thanks for any help and advice.

The update works for me.

If anyone followed my suggestions for using an old version and updated their C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file, you will have to remove the entries added for

127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 practivate.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 ereg.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 update.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 swupdl.adobe.com

127.0.0.1 genuine.adobe.com

Thank you for the swift resolution of this bug.

Hi All,

Thank you for your patience.

The issue has been addressed with the Acrobat and Reader update (25.001.21265) released yesterday. Please try updating Acrobat Reader if the application hasn’t been updated.

For more information on the update, refer to the following help page: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousmar2026.html#dccontinuousmartwentytwentysix.

Let us know if you experience any issues.

Thanks,

Get from microsoft this, should fix both recent errors (x64 for 64 Windows):

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015

Hi All,

The fix will be for Acrobat and Reader, and will be available with a public release very soon.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

Anand Sri.

@edward_stod227 probably because your version of Windows 7 does not contain the necessary function that the newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is trying to use. Once Acrobat tries to load a modern feature that Windows 7 simply doesn't support, that's win you get the error message

That page says nothing about Win7 nor is there a link to the correct file needed to add the missing link. Please offer some better help to us poor Win7 users.
