I found a solution on another thread here.   Use regedit to delete the following 3 keys.  Reboot, and problem solved.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C95FFEAE-A32E-4122-A5C4-49B5BFB69795}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C95FFEAE-A32E-4122-A5C4-49B5BFB69795}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{C95FFEAE-A32E-4122-A5C4-49B5BFB69795}

It's not only EOL, but very outdated and not compatible with Windows 11. Problems are to be expected.

I have same issue.   File explorer crashes when opened from the pinned desktop icon.   However if you launch it from the start menu by searching for explorer,  it seems to be fine.   I've not noticed any other issues yet.
