Hi,
Is there any way to write on top of a PDF?
I know i can add a post-it, but then that is 2 steps to see it.
I want to write text above something on the PDF. Can that be done or no?

For me it was the Tools panel. Click that and then click comment. That is the path. Found it now.
I rarely edit PDFs so this is newer to me.

You can use the Add Text Comment tool to do that in the free Reader.

Ok, is that different than the sticky note?
Glad i checked this site because for some reason i didnt get an email that there was a response for this.

I dont see any ADD COMMENT tool. i had said i already know how to add the sticky note. That isnt what i want. I want to add text on top of the PDF. Also i wish it was easier to choose the highlight color , but i guess being in PDF format it makes things more difficult and many more steps.

What version of Reader do you have? Please use Help > About Acrobat Reader and tell us what you see since each version is different.

Yes, it is different. The Add Text Comment tool allows you to write directly onto the page, while the sticky note only allows you to write inside the pop-up window of the note.

So how do i add comments. can you write out the steps for me? also, can I underline things?

Open the Comment panel on the right and see all the tools available there. It's pretty self-explanatory...

i dont think i have an ADD TEXT tool there. and i cant underline either. i just downloaded this like a week or 2 ago too so it is latest version of Adobe Reader. i guess i need the pay version. Also, how do i get notifications to my email for when you reply?? not getting them. I used to get them. Now i have to check the website.

No, you don't. It's possible that the file you're opening does not allow for this kind of editing, though, which is way the tools are missing/disabled. If that's the case it won't be possible in the paid-for version of the application, either.
Try it with any other file you can get online. For example, go to any Wikipedia page, use the Download as PDF link and then try it on that file.

Don't guess what version you have... Go to Help > About Acrobat Reader and it will tell you.
