Zoom Level vs real size of the displayed image

When AR is showing a page on the screen with the zoom level 100%, I expect that the size of the image on my monitor should be exactly the same as the size of the real page. I.e. if AR is showing the page 8.5" x 11"  and I grab a ruler and put it to the screen, it should be 8.5" x 11" - after AR and Windows intelligently took into account all parameters affecting this, such as size and resolution of my monitor. However, this does not happen. The physical size of the image of the page on my monitor is equal to the size of the physical page of the same size at zoom level about 74%. I wonder if this is expected.

This is a common issue, reported and discussed here a lot. The root issue is that monitors these days are all different with different pitch resolutions and also different ways that they can be modified by the System that Acrobat knows nothing about or is getting incorrect info. High-pitch monitors are particularly troublesome.

Acrobat has a default in its Preferences for Page Display that will be what your System is telling it is (btw: only one monitor will be used for this calculation i.e. normally your Main monitor). e.g. 108. Sometimes setting a manual setting (e.g. 110) might work for you. *must reboot Acrobat for it to take effect. Try a few settings and see what gets it back to what you can measure as "actual size".

Thanks for the reply. It's not terribly important, in fact it was just one time when I really needed it to be exact, but being a programmer and being aware of the myriad of the graphics-related parameters in Windows interfaces, its hard to imagine that it's not possible to calculate the size correctly. All those parameters of the monitor that you mentioned are available to the application.
