7 day Free Trial pop preventing PDF's from opening

I have a user that's using the Adobe Reader on his system, and when he attempts to open PDF's he gets blocked with a 7 day Free Trial pop up.  Closing the pop up also closes the PDF.  It occurs with PDF scans he created as well as ones he opens as email attachments.  I've uninstalled and reinstall the free download twice with the same issue occuring.  I've suggested moving to Adobe Standard, but his supervisor refuses to pay for a subscriptio Any idea how to disable this?
