Since a few days one of our colleagues has troubles with Acrobat Pro. Everytime he opens the program or a PDF file, it loads for a couple of seconds and than completely closes. If I check the event viewer, we can see this log:

Faulting application name: Acrobat.exe, version: 22.3.20258.0, time stamp: 0x63352602
Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.19041.789, time stamp: 0x2bd748bf
Exception code: 0xc0000409

Faulting process id: 0x215c
Faulting application start time: 0x01d8e2c76ec6aaa2
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\System32\ucrtbase.dll
Report Id: 7bbdf7b2-082e-493c-bc44-af789091052d
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

I tried removing everything Adobe related with Revo Uninstaller, did a CCleaner and reinstalled everything, but the problem remains. Also did a sfc /scannow, problem still remains. I also created the below regkey to disable the option "Enable Protected Mode at startup", but also with this the problem remains...

  • Keypath: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Policies\Adobe\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown
  • Value name: iProtectedView
  • Value type: REG_DWORD
  • Value data: 0

I have no more clue what we can try, so I hope someone else has some ideas 🙂

Thank you!

Hi @IT263476317ws3,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience and the delayed response.

If you still experience the issue, you might want to try the steps mentioned here: Application Error message (0xc0000409) occurred in the application at location 0x00411e0b (Installation & updates)

ALso, you might want to repair all the C++ files installed on your system, followed by a restart.

Let us know if this helps.
