Acrobat Reader completes installation but cannot be found

New Here ,
Apr 02, 2025 Apr 02, 2025

My numerous attempts at re-installing Acrobat Reader have been unsuccessful.

Since several recent updates to Acrobat Reader kept failing, I uninstalled it and went to the website to download a new installation. I had performed the same process last year successfully.

The installer downloaded fine and the installation proceeded to the end.

However, this time there is no evidence of Acrobat Reader having been installed.

I cannot find it, either under the Windows Settings for Apps nor an icon shortcut on the desktop.

The Acrobat Reader installer exe file also vanished from where it was downloaded to.

All my pdf files now default to Chrome.

I'm running Windows 10 on my laptop with 32-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

Can anyone help resolve this, please?

Hello @ls_8518

I hope you are doing well. We apologize for the delayed response and the trouble. The above suggestion is to use the Acrobat Cleaner tool and remove the previously attempted installation of the app. If you have not tried using the Cleaner tool, please download it and remove the installed Acrobat Reader. Reboot the machine, check for any pending mandatory and optional updates of the operating system, and install them. Restart the machine, and then download Acrobat Reader

Try these steps:

1. Uninstall Acrobat
2. Run the Cleaner Tool
3. Download the 32bit version of Acrobat Reader
4. Install it
5.Update

1. Uninstall Acrobat  (If you can't find this step, go to step 2.)
Open Settings(click the Start menu and select the gear icon)
Go Apps(Apps & features)
Scroll down and find Acrobat in the list
Click on it, then select and follow the on-screen instructions
2. Run the Cleaner Tool for 32bit LINK

3. Download the 32bit version of Acrobat Reader (new installer)
32bit multilingual INSTALLER LINK

4. Install it

For testing purposes, please disable any security applications you have installed, and then attempt to install Acrobat Reader. After the testing is complete, re-enable your security software. If the issue persists, you can also create a test user profile with full administrative rights and try installing Acrobat Reader from that profile.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.
