Acrobat Reader DC does not work, but Pro DC does

Acrobat reader does not open when double click on file in Outlook, right click and use open, or run from the Start menu.  If i go to the program and run as administrator, it open when I select the 1st option.  Have tried to uninstal, restart and reinstall and it does no good.  Installed the Pro version and it works!  Do not want to pay after the trial is up, so how do I get Reader DC to install and work?  Thanks for any all help you can give me.

I have tried the Cleaner tool and all it does is hang.  The task manager show "not responding", but the CPU is running in the 50-70% range.  Let it run for about an hour and nothing.  On the screen, the task shows whatever window was open in the BOX and no info concerning the Cleaner.  Ran a program for malware, and have none. Again, Pro seems to work, but Outlook Preview for PDF's does not.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.  Should I delete all references to Acrobat in the register keys or what?  Thanks for any help or ideas.

More data on the above.  Finally got Cleaner to work.  Reinstated Acrobat DC after cleaner and restart.  Still will not open DC, but can open documents in Chrome after making it the default program for PDFs.  Does anyone have a solution or comments on how to solve this problem with DC not opening.  As stated before, Pro DC works fine, but only have a 30 day trial.  HELP !
