Acrobat Reader DC requesting font add-in to open a pdf doccument.

Aug 03, 2018 Aug 03, 2018

While attempting to open a pdf doccument, Acrobat Reader DC asks for a font add-in and gives a button to get this said add-in. However, the link is obviously bad for the page is never able to be found. Therefore, the attachment will not open. Others I've sent this to have no problem. I tried to simply print this and only the 2nd of 3 pages prints. Again, all others I've sent this to can print without fail. I found a font add-in and when attempting to install, it gives an error saying I had to upgrade to XI but I now have the latest Reader DC app available. Please help and before I forget, I am totally blind and use a screen reader with a software program that reads the screen to me. I am very computer literate and even my family could not open or print this doccument as well. So, again, I ask for your help with this crazy problem.

Thank you

Hi Rickm,

We're sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused. If you have tried all the above suggestions and the issue is specific to one PDF, please contact the author of the PDF as it seems to be the issue with the fonts in the PDF, ask the author/owner of the PDF to embed the fonts in the PDF.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello Rickm,

We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, please make sure you are opening the PDF file in Adobe Reader.

Check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after updating Adobe Reader.

If you are using Windows machine, repair Adobe Reader from help>repair installation, reboot the machine after repair.

Try installing the fonts pack from the URL Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows : Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Font Pack (Continuous) : Thank You

What is the dot version of Adobe Reader DC installed? To identify refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

is it a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of OS installed?

Is it happening with one specific PDF or with all the PDF files?

let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hello,

I attempted to again install this font pack. Again, it continues to tell me I need to have version XI (11). I do have version 11 in my computer.

My computer is having Windows 10

This problem only with one pdf file my employer has sent me. Yes, it does have a few different fonts in the doccument. However, this has opened in my family’s home computers and their computers at work, as well.

I have no need to do a repair, I’ve removed the Acrobat reader from my computer, erased all history of this from cashe etc. and reinstalled with no different results. This font pack still unable to open. Why?

I am willing to agree to have you come into my computer and see for yourself.

Please advise,

Rick

Hello Rickm,

I am able to access the Font link from my end. If you are behind a managed network, connect the machine to a different network environment and try downloading the font pack again.

Adobe Reader 11 free desktop application is old and out of support product, please install the latest version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If it specific to one PDF, you may have to contact the author of the PDF and have to ask them to embed the fonts in the PDF properly.

To download Fonts pack, go to Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows

scroll down the page to the ADD-ONS> select the font pack > download

Restart the computer (check again if you are experiencing the same problem or not)

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Very textbook  suggestions of which none work. A very unhelpful response I would record.
