Acrobat Reader DC: Text Boxes Sometimes Require Multiple Clicks before Typing Is Allowed

I'm using Acrobat Reader DC, build 20.9.20067.384717, on Mac OS 10.15.5 (Catalina). I mark up textbook proof pages in PDF.

Often, when I select the Text Box tool to insert a box to explain a change I made, the focus immediately shifts away from the text box and I have to click multiple times in the box until the focus returns. The problem seems to happen more often when I select the Text Box tool and then click and drag to restrict the size (to fit in the margins of the page). I can usually simply click on the page with the Text Box tool activated to get the default shape and size without losing focus, but then I need to resize the box.

I have no clue what could be causing this. I'm running the latest version and have restarted several times. Any thoughts?

(Normally I use Acrobat Pro 2017 under a paid perpetual license, but suddenly the program insists on being activated with Adobe, and Adobe is working on figuring out why. Till then, I'm using Reader.)

Hi Gabe_Waggoner

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the focus moves away from the text box in Adobe Acrobat Reader on dragging it to resize.

We tried to reproduce the issue on our end and its working fine.

Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDF files? Please try with a different PDF and check. If irs a file specific issue please share the file with us for testing.

Please try to create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and check.

If it still doesnt work, please remove the application using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html  , reboot the computer, and reinstall the application using the link https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

Let us know how it goes
