Acrobat Reader DC will not open on Windows 10.

Hi ,

I have windows 10 and acrobat reader DC.  Acrobat will not open, just spins and then stops.  PDFs will not open unless I open through email.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I have tried trouble shooting.  not sure what else to do.  I have read other threads that suggest opening Acrobat and changing settings but I cannot even open to get to settings.

Thanks

Hi @Heber312735118ppt

Thank you for sharing your findings with us.

A couple of suggestions if any other user is experiencing a similar issue.

1- Keep your Acrobat Reader up to date. The update will be automatically pushed to all existing installations of Acrobat and Reader. You may manually trigger the update early by opening the application and going to Help > Check for Updates>reboot Acrobat.

More information about this release is here: Release Notes | Adobe Acrobat, Reader

2- To uninstall the application

Run this cleaner tool to remove the existing installer and application’s file traces:

https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html

Download the Acrobat Reader installer from here:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

OR

https://helpx.adobe.com/reader/get-started.html

Thanks,

Akanchha

I've been having the same issue. But now it works. Open properties from the desktop icon, Compatibility - Run in Windows 8. Then select "Run this program as an administrator." My app opened right up.

Also, double clicking a file won't open it. You have to do it through the File menu within Acrobat.

I had this same problem for ages but what I did to rectify the issue was to open regedit and delete everything I could find that was adobe related then reinstalled adobe reader now it works fine again no issues whatsoever.
