Acrobat Reader ghost image on Windows 10

I somewhat frequently encounter a situation where I have multiple .pdf documents open in tabs.  Taking a certain action (often closing a document) creates a situation where it appears that the program froze.  But in reality there are two images on the screen.  One is the live working program.  The other is its visual state when the action was taken, with a little blue round pacifier.  The only way to get rid of the "ghost" image is to close the application.  Obviously the program knew about the image, but lost control of it, or at least the OS knew about it and linked it to the program.  But there appears to be no "ownership" of it, since there is no way to eliminate it without simultaneously closing the live image.  This is a nuisance because I often have several documents open and don't want to have to open them again.

Hi WiltonHelm,

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply.

Are you still experiencing the issue?

You may try checking update for Reader by launching Reader>click Help>select Check for Updates.

You may also download updates manually from this link: Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows

If that doesn't work, try repairing Reader by clicking Repair Installation under Help menu and see if that helps.

What is the dot version of Reader installed on the machine?

Click About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC under Help menu to do so.

Thanks,

Shivam
