I have the same issue as in the post. I have tried all the registry edit, default app and file type commands, etc. Apparently, I need support to help me 🙂
My reply: I have the same problem running a Surface Pro 10 for Business, Core Ultra 7, running Windows 11 Pro 24H2. My device is managed, and I am the IT administrator with full access to make any changes. I've followed the procedures above and have completed steps 1 and 2, but the reg entries for step 3 don't match up.
I've also performed several clean installs and no luck. Please help!

@anthony_1402 That constant prompt to set Acrobat as the default, when it already is, is a classic example of a "ghost" setting, where the system and the application aren't in sync. Unfortunately, since you've exhausted all the standard fixes, this issue is likely rooted in a deeper conflict, possibly between the Adobe application's settings and your specific managed Windows 11 environment. While it's tough to pinpoint the exact cause without more information, you've definitely done your due diligence. It seems like this is one of those rare cases where the fix isn't a simple tweak, but rather something that requires specialized support from Adobe, as they might have a deeper understanding of these specific software conflicts—and I am just a user!

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.
As the prompt appears even when the applications are set as default, try clicking the option once and see if the prompt appears again.
If it appears again, try reinstalling the application using the steps suggested below:
-Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://adobe.ly/3KrptlM).
-Reboot the machine
-Install Adobe Acrobat from the following page: https://adobe.ly/46UmuuW.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Could you please share the screen recording of what happens? Also, share the Acrobat and OS version numbers.
Please try once resetting the application as default using the following steps: https://adobe.ly/4nrdNOL. Also, check if the application is selected for PDF under the Windows settings.
Please collect the logs using the diagnostic tool and share the log ID with us. We will share it with team to get checked.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Thanks, I am not trying to be flippant, but if you read my original post, I have already tried all of these things uninstall/delete tool, reinstall, app preferences, windows preferences, manual file type associations, registry edits, etc. None of this has fixed the prob.
This isn't really rocket science. Providing a screen recording isn't going to do much. 3-4 times a week, my Windows notification center sends me a notification that Adobe Reader isn't set as the default and asks me to make it so. No matter what I do it won't go away.
Here is a screenshot of what you asked. Already set as Adobe.
This is happening on 2 Windows 11 Pro computers. There is a deeper bug/problem. Please provide a support person to review.
For the log request, no such menu exists. See screenshots
I also am not comfortable sharing my login ID in a public forum. Glad to share it in a secure channel.

Thank you for sharing the information.
We do not need the login ID. When you collect the logs, a log ID is created. Share that log ID with us so we can use it to locate the logs on your end.
Thanks,
Meenakshi
