Thank you It is fixed at last.
I uninstalled Acrobat reader again for the 4th or 5th time, ran a couple of
maintenance scans with CCleaner and Bitdefender's optimiser.
Then rebooted my laptop. repeated the maintenance scans which fixed
outdated registry issues etc.
Then downloaded Acrobat Reader for Firefox and registered with the program.
Somehow something corrected the problem.
Much thanks for your assistance.

Hello Dean, THanks for replying.  Yes I've uninstalled and redownloaded Acrobat  several times. I  even bought the Iobit's reputedly powerful uninstaller and tried hthat a couple of times. Basically when i click on the Acrobat icon or try to open a pdf file nothing at all happens. I've used Acrobat for years, something recently has changed so it is unresponsive. I can view pdf, pages in a browser but that is not  as useful.at all.

Thanks

Andrew

Sorry for the delay.

I'm assumming it happens with any PDF, no matter the file size right?
Can you open Acrobar Reader without opening a file?
Here is a page on why PDFs may not be opening, just as another set of things to consider if they haven't been already:

Hello.
Thanks for your reply.
No PDF's will open regardless of size. And Adobe Acrobat doesn't open
either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it several times.

It does sound like something isn't working with Acrobat.

Another thing to try is to run Adobe Acrobat Reader as an administrator. If there are corrupted permissions, running it as administrator may help.

Right click on the Acrobat icon and choose - Run as administrator.
