Acrobat Reader versus Adobe Acrobat XI Standard

If I remove Adobe Acrobat Reader DC continuous release, will my Adobe Acrobat XI Standard version 11.0.23 start working again or will I have to remove the program and then reinstall?  (When I tried to open a .jpg file, which I could always open with Acrobat XI; error message appears “Adobe Acrobat Reader DC could not open XXX.jpg because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.)

It’s not the jpg file but the darn reader – reader must go!  Help!

Try the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html), to get rid of Reader. You also may have to redo the setup for XI as well. The setup should offer a repair option you can try.

Btw. JPG is not a format that Acrobat nor Reader natively support. But Acrobat is able to convert it into a PDF file, while Reader is not.
