Greetings,
I would like to understand and verify specifically what application permissions Adobe Acrobat Reader DC allows. The following is what I have found regarding application permissions:
Have full access to all files user can access
- Allows the app to read, create, update, and delete all files the signed-in user can access.
Sign in and read user profile
- Allows users to sign-in to the app, and allows the app to read the profile of signed-in users. It also allows the app to read basic company information of signed-in users.
Read user mail
- Allows the app to read the signed-in user's mailbox.
Maintain access to data you have given it access to
- Allow the app to see and update the data you gave it access to, even when users are not currently using the app. This does not give the app any additional permissions.
Is this accurate? If so, why does the application require access to read a user's mailbox? What information does it collect from the user's mailbox? If a user is not signed in to Adobe Reader but has Microsoft Outlook specified as their default email application within Reader preferences, is anything collected?
Thank you for the clarification,
Jake

This is a common misunderstanding of Apple's permissions. It COULD do those things but it doesn't mean that it will.
For example: app needs to read one file it stored in the Documents folder. Permission needed: entire documents folder: the app can read any documents. Perhaps including the user's mailbox.
It's like giving someone a key to your house. Yes, they COULD go through your papers, look for credit cards, steal your groceries. But it doesn't mean they WILL.
