Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working

Adobe Reader DC updated today to the new version 2019 and since then I now get the following error message every time I open a pdf:

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working.

The only way to resolve it, is to close the program, so Adobe is unusable.

I have tried uninstalling, running the Adobe Cleaner, re-installing etc. I have also tried installing older versions and still the problem persists. It never happened before until right after the new version was installed, so it is clearly something to do with that. I was using the computer at the time when the update was executed and immediately afterwards, I opened a pdf, and the problem occurred for the first time right then.

Can anyone help please?

All  four Windows 10 computers in our house just updated to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2019.008.20071. All can no longer use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. After about 15 seconds a message is displayed just as Andrewl94347296 reports. We have tried an uninstall, registry clean and then reinstall to no avail. Problem still persists and the program is unusable. Seems like a serious bug in the latest release. Many other people are reporting this problem.

Latest release 2019.008.20074 seems to have fixed the problem !!!

I am on Windows 7, having the same problem.  No automatic update has been delivered.  I can't even attach a PDF file to an email.  I have Acrobat Pro, and have changed that to my default program for reading but need to fix the DC reader issue.

How does the link above work please

These links don't appear to be an update?  All I want to know is how I can fix the problem please.  Where do I find an update/patch/reinstall, whatever I need.  Thank you

I didn't use the link. My version of Acrobat Reader DC (on windows 10) kept falling over after about 15 seconds. So as soon as I opened it I selected as fast as possible from the "Help" menu "Check for Updates" and proceeded to update with latest version 2019.008.20074 from there.

Here we go again!

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC updated today (14-Dec-2018 Aust. EDT) to version 19.010.20064

Same problem as in an earlier update. App initially seems to load okay and a document loads then after about 15 seconds the following message appears and the app falls over.

Just had the same thing happen - Windows 7.  Occurred about two weeks ago and have gone thru all that has been suggested in this forum...  Multiple times.  Sending for Updates comes back as No Updates Available.  Went online to Adobe and filled-in a "Debug/Feature" request.  Went to other forums and did extra virus cleans as suggested there - such as DSLL cleaning from Kapersky (which I have and ran full scans a number of times).  Problem persists.  Crash constantly occurs ~ 15 seconds after opening pdf file, just long enough to make some security (enhanced) changes.  Nothing works.  Been at this on-and-off for the last week until I came to this forum, which has the most recent posts.  I have another computer, Windows 7 as well, and it is not affected.  Totally weird!

Hi All,

Seems that the latest update 2019.010.20064 throws up the same problem as an earlier update (a couple of months ago) again making Acrobat Reader DC unusable.

Does anyone have any info on a fix for this latest recurrence of the issue?

This issue is also raised in a number of other adobe forum threads:

Adobe Reader 19.010.20064 crashes on startup on RDS

Adobe Reader DC 2019 closes after a few seconds
