Hi am having trouble opening any pdf document in my Adobe Acrobat reader. Whenever I open a file the letters seem to be on top of each other. Making little heaps of letters randomly spaced out on the screen. Please see below:
If I open the file in Edge it will open correct. It does not open properly on any pdf reader though. I have tried Foxit as well. Please keep in mind that this is for all pdf documents and not just this one.
Reinstalling does not work.
I greatly appreciate your response.

Hello Orimaso,
We're sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader, what is the current version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, please refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC
Install the latest patch of Adobe Reader 19.010.20091 from help>check for updates, reboot the machine once and check.
Navigate to Adobe Reader's Preferences from Edit>Preferences>Page Display>under Rendering>choose 'Use local fonts'>Click OK>Restart the application and check with the PDF file.
The fonts may be overlapping due to the fonts not embedded in the PDF file or you may have two or more types of fonts on your system with the same name.
Is it possible to share a sample PDF file with us which is causing this issue? If yes, please upload the file to a cloud storage Adobe Document Cloud
Choose share file option, generate the link and share the link in private/direct message only How Do I Send Private Message
Thanks,
Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,
Thank you for your reply. The version should be the newest available. It was downloaded in the past week. I will do the patch though.
How do I embed fonts and/or check for the multiple fonts with the same name?
I am not currently at the computer where this is happening. I will try the patch, use local fonts and then check for embedding and the multiple fonts if you can provide the steps to check for it.
If all else fails I will provide an example of pdf thats not displaying properly tomorrow midday. In approximately 19hours.
Thank you for your patience
Stiaan

Hi Stiaan,
If you have created or the author/owner of the PDF file, then you can embed the fonts while generating the PDF file. If you have received the file from a user, then the author will be able to embed the fonts.
Try updating the Adobe Reader and choose the option in the preferences and let us know how it goes.
Share a sample file with us so that we can try to replicate the issue at our end.
Thanks.
Anand Sri.
