Hi Aland82523103,

When exactly you are getting the message "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC not responding" ?

Is it during launch of the application or when you try to open any pdf or search in the pdf file?

Also, what is the operating system that you have?

Check for the update if any available under Help>Check for update (update the application)

If it still doesn't work then you need to reset the preferences of Adobe Reader DC.

For Windows-

  • Quit Reader.
  • In Windows Explorer, go to the Preferences folder:

    (Windows 7 or higher) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]

     Or %Appdata%>Roaming>Adobe>Acrobat>[version]

  • Move the Preferences folder to another location (for example, C:\Temp).
  • Restart Reader.

For Mac-

  • Quit Reader.
  • Drag the following files from the Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences folder to the Desktop:

Acrobat WebCapture Cookies

com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist or com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro_x86_9.0.plist

  • Acrobat Distiller Prefs and com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist (if you are troubleshooting an issue with Distiller)
  • The Acrobat folder, which contains preferences for forms (MRUFormsList), collaboration (OfflineDocs), and color settings (AcrobatColor Settings.csf)
  • Restart Reader.

Let us know if it still doesn't work.

Regards,

Akanchha

Hi Akancchia,

Thanks for your response.

This happens when I try to open any pdf or search in the pdf file. It just

freezes and that's when I get the message.

My operating system is Windows 7.

I will try your suggestions and let you know.

Regards,

Alan

I, too, have the same issue with Adobe Reader not responding on PDF documents. It will show them, but when I try to print them, it shows "not responding". Your solution indicates to make changes in Explorer. I use Chrome. Is the fix the same? I am using Windows 7 Pro.

Chip,

I think you hit the nail on the head. This is the exactly what I am

experiencing. I also use the same computer. When I switch to Firefox or

Chrome, the problem goes away!

Thank you,

Alan
