Hi

When I'am using adobe acrobat reader, and opening pdf-documents from my computer, it doesn't show my recent open files:

Can you please help me - do I need some settings I don't know about. The only place I can find something about the opening window, is under settings:

Hi Daniels,

Could you please try opening this link in a web browser and see if recent files are visible: https://cloud.acrobat.com/recent

Also, check if documents in recently used list is not set to 0 under Edit > Preferences > Documents > Open settings.

Keep us posted with the results.

Hi Shivam

I check the 'Open settings' and the recently used are set to 100.

When I used the link, I could se my recently used files - but they were all from my Document Cloud. I don't have all my pdf-files in the Cloud - some of them are local on my machine, and I can't see them in the list.

You must have a different version of Acrobat DC to me.

I am using MacOS Sonoma.

I do not have a Preferences option under the Edit menu.

There is a Preferences link under File. However, it does not have an "Edit" section / pane.

Thanks. I found it with your help but it was already set to 100.

I reset  to 0, quit; restarted and reset to 100, quit and restarted.

Last "recent" document showing is from 12 February - needless to say I have opened at least several other pdfs every day since 12 February but none are showing.

I should also add that, when I save a PDF, the dialog does not display the most recent folders I have saved a pdf into but folders from some time back - not sure when.

Hi The Winey Reader,

Thank you for reaching out.

As mentioned, only the files on the cloud show up in the recent list. Does that mean PDFs saved locally are not showing up under the recent list, or are PDFs from particular locations missing?

Please share the Acrobat and OS version numbers on the machine. We need to ensure that you are experiencing a similar issue to that reported in this post or a different one.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

On all previous versions, my recent files were the ones saved locally. Now they aren't. Everything is brand new...I downloaded most recent versions of the software with this new laptop. Sonoma 14.4 is OS.

Thank you for the information.

This happens when you install the application. The files that were saved locally will not be visible after the fresh install. Only the Cloud files will be visible in the recent list.

However, once you start using the application, the recent list will start updating. Please try opening any PDF saved locally and see if it appears in the recent list once relaunch the application.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Please share the following information, so we can further look into this:

- Acrobat version number

- OS version number on the machine

- Screen recording of showing the behavior.

We will get this checked.

Thanks,

it only shows ones I accidentally saved to the cloud...nothing else. Brand new mac laptop and downloaded most recent software from you. I've been doing this awhile and never had this issue before. Can't find anything in the settings to have it point to my computer instead of the cloud. I run files over and over and it really helps if the file is listed.

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me why this problem only happens with files I have in iCloud. I can see in the recent documents anything I opened that was local (i.e. desktop or documents etc) but not something that was in my iCloud even though it's really local like dropbox would be holding a local copy.

Thanks

You won't have the same problem with Adobe cloud.  This trick is as old as Microsoft.

Hi!

Yes I also have the same issue - it's strange. My other adobe apps remembers, but my acrobat doesn't? I have checked all settings and seem to be correct.

When I click the web link as suggested above - my files do not show either.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Did anyone find the solution to this as local files will no longer show in the recent lists in Adobe Acrobat since approx the start of April? Like other users this is just for local files.

I'm following this topic—adding my voice here. I now have this issue with both local and Cloud files. I've even un-/reinstalled the app (after trying the reset Preferences tip without seeing a change). I'm looking forward to a fix; this is hampering my workflow.
