Adobe Acrobat Reader for Android - Disable 'send as a link' attachment

Hi all,

I've seen other discussions about this, but none that I could see about Android version.

I have this app installed on my phone, and when I want to share a PDF, the default option is "share as link" through the Adobe cloud. I don't want that. Never.

I know there is a workaround, using "Send a copy" - I want that to be the default option or the only option available for me.

I've search the preferences of the app, but could not find any option to disable "sharing by link"

Thanks

This option on Android is irritating as anything. A complete dark pattern, if I've ever seen one. Why would you deliberately enshittify your PDF reading app on Android with this kind of a decision?

Hi Not37480809rgwqShikhar0D45, and Mohamed39000201e8k3,

Thank you for reaching out.

When you select the share tool in the Acrobat Reader Android application, you get all the options at once. You can select any of the options there to share the file. For more information, refer to the following help document: https://adobe.ly/4c9l0fH

Currently, there is no option to remove the share as a link option. However, you may share your suggestion on the following help document: https://adobe.ly/4cbx4gz

Thanks,

Meenakshi

Thank you for replying back

However, your response is incorrect -

"When you select the share tool in the Acrobat Reader Android application, you get all the options at once. You can select any of the options there to share the file." - you get the option to share the link, not the file

Me and others I've seen around do not want to upload our files to Adobe's servers. Ever.

Here's an example from right now:

Selecting the share tool in Acrobat Reader for Android

But then selecting WhatApp you see that what is shared is a link to acrobat.adobe.com

Please add an option in the configuration to disable sharing a link and disable uploading anything to Adobe's servers. I don't want my mobile device to contact Adobe servers for anything.

Thanks

Well, he did say you have all the options in the "share" but that's incorrect.

There is sort-of a stadard for what it means to share, and Adobe chose to break that - I'm in the context of viewing a file, not a web page, so when I share, I want to share a file, not a link.

I understand that there is currently no solution, I knew that when I posted this thread. The whole point was asking for a change....

Cheers

Another note: I've asked for this change here and not elsewhere, because the link you posted for sharing suggestions links to a third-party site (where I need to create a new account).

Send as copy does not work as it used to in the past.

Uninstalling this app till you fix this. I don't understand why the app needs to share a link and comment "hey check out adobe" every time I want to send a PDF from one chat to the other.
