Adobe [Acrobat Reader] is crashing a desktop MAC OS Monterrey

I am on a desktop iMac, it is 3 years old.  I keep the OS up to date as well as adobe.  For the last 2 years, my computer crashes at will.  I've turned off automatically opening adobe when I login, yet it still tries to open.  I've started using google chrome almost exclusively, as things seemed worse with Safari, but things are worse now than ever.  I've looked at my own sleep settings.  I do have a new printer, which works beautifully, and perhaps coincidentally the crashes are now several times a day rather than 1-2 times a week.  I did unmount and remount adobe once, things seemed better but this didn't last.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  thank you

You're welcome, Susan, and I'm glad it's sorted for you. Can you tell us how you fixed it? The way to close a thread is for you to mark one or more answers "Correct".

thanks I couldn't see how to close it. Unfortunately, no one provided a
correct answer. I simply reset some of my computer/wake settings and for
now, all is smooth. And adobe isn't opening unless I call for it. Once I
shut my computer off, which I do weekly, I expect adobe will try to open.
And yes, I have the free version of acrobat, and it is up to date.

Adobe is a company, not an application. Which Adobe app do you have installed? For example: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, et cetera.

In addition, it is not possible for an application to crash a computer. You might call Apple for support in why your Mac keeps crashing. It could be failing hardware, for instance.

@susan25061284sqz5,
Make sure your computer meets the minimum CPU & GPU requirements. Most Creative Cloud apps work on:

  • Windows 10 versions 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, 2004, and 1909 (LTSB branches are not supported;)
  • macOS 12 (Monterey), macOS 11 (Big Sur), macOS 10.16 or 10.15 (Catalina).

Troubleshooters will need to know the OS release you are using, the hardware specifications for your iMac, and the name and version number of the Adobe program being used. Once you provide that information, someone will move you to the appropriate forum.
