I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro running the latest IOS (but this has been a recurring issue throughout the past two IOS updates).
Things tried:
Attempt opening numerous known-to-work PDF files
Check for updates
Restart computer
Reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader
Check for updates following installation
Download and install updates
Restart computer
Attempt opening numerous PDF files
Additional Info:
I am able to open the PDF's via web browser as well as on other computers using Adobe Acrobat Reader (including macs).
I have made sure all PDF's are opened via Adobe Acrobat Reader.
My, "Adobe Acrobat Reader is already up to date."
When double clicking on the PDF to open, the Adobe Acrobat Reader task-bar shows up as it should. The file itself does not.
No error messages are present at any time during attempts to open a PDF.
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and checked for updates numerous times, and have attempted to open PDF's between every step along the process.
This issue is not intermittent, as in, since the first time a PDF has refused to open, no other PDF's have successfully opened either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Dan

You are not running IOS, that is for phones. What exact version of Mac OS do you have? You can check with about this Mac.
What exact version of Acrobat Reader do you have? You can check with Acrobat Reader > About after starting it from the Applications folder.
After you start Reader that way, what happens if you use File > Open to open a PDF?

My apologies, you are correct. Thank you for the response. I am currently running OS X Version 10.9.5, and Version 2015.020.20042 of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
When using the File > Open..., then selecting a PDF file, once the Open button is illuminated and pressed, nothing appears to happen other than the window closing.
