Adobe Read Out Loud Feature: Pauses between words

When running the Read Out Loud feature, some of my pdfs are perfectly read, then others have too much pause time between words. I've tried adjusting the words per minute under the reading preferences, but that doesn't adjust the pauses, only the speed of the words. Can you tell me how to adjust this?

      Sorry for the delay in response to your query and apologize for the inconvenience caused. As per the description above, the Read out loud pauses between the words, Is that correct?

      Please check for any pending updates from Help>Check for updates.

      You may also try to repair the installation file from Help>Repair installation files.

      If the issue still persists, please share the following details:

      1. Is it Acrobat or free desktop version of Reader installed, check from Help>About Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
      2. Is it a Mac or Windows machine?
      3. Dot version of Acrobat or Reader installed, check from Help>About Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
