Hello,
Im looking into deploying a new version of reader into our environment.
But im looking for a classic track, is there a 2024 version available of classic track? Or is this the Adobe Pro Classic being used as reader?
Currently we are using Reader 2020 MUI classic track. Which is still being updated but looking into upgrading.
Kind Regards,
Thomas
Hi @thomas_9615
Aplogize for the typo, it is Acrobat Reader Classic 2020 available for the deployment in the Enterprise environment. See these articles for the available latest version, and the deployment process: https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/pdf-reader/volume-distribution.html
https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/index.html#classic-track
Also, you can deploy the Acrobat as Reader mode where non-licensed users can use it as Reader while users with valid license

Acrobat Classic 2024 is part of single app installer and hence there is no separate Reader installer available. You can deploy Acrobat to work in Reader mode.

I found this:
Acrobat 64-bit for Windows Enterprise users
You can install the 2024 Classic track installer, then create the registry edits for READ-ONLY mode. the only difference is to replace DC in the registry path with 'Classic'. after the keys are in place, the program will not require a login, and will operate as 'Reader'. Pro features will not work unless you are logged in.

Hi @thomas_9615,
I hope you are doing well. Thanks for reaching out.
You can download and deploy the Acrobat Classic 2024 and Acrobat Reader Classic 2020 for Enterprise Volume Distribution and Deploymnet using the Adobe Customization Wizard tool. See these articles for more information and the Downloadable files: https://adobe.ly/3XFOMDz, https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/pdf-reader/volume-distribution.html https://adobe.ly/47BshVb,
https://adobe.ly/3BhJPcN;
Also, you can deploy the Acrobat as Reader mode where non-licensed users can use it as Reader while users with valid licenses can sign in and use the paid features.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Anand Sri.

Hello,
Thanks for the quick reply! So you (Adobe) chose to provide Acrobat Classic as Reader 2024 classic track?
Acrobat Classic is basically an Acrobat Pro, and not a Reader 2024.

Hi, are there any plans for an Acrobat Reader 2024 (Classic-Track) release? - is there an expected due date?
The current release of Acrobat Reader 2020 (Classic-Track) is End of Life in June 2025 by the looks of it (Products and technical support periods (adobe.com)) and we're interested in knowing when the next Reader (Classic-Track) version will be available.
Thanks for your help!

Is there any documentation on deploying Acrobat in Reader mode?
Is the Reader mode free of offerings to go Pro? In corporate environment we don't want such annoyances as we know what we are doing and which users need Pro version vs. others who need only Reader on their PCs.

okay so i found this, Adobe - Distributie van Adobe Acrobat Reader
choose OS > MUI version > 64bit
is this the new way to go? This is a continous unfortunately. but im not going to give all my users the acrobat pro version while all buttons are still visible if not logged in. that will raise just too many questions...
