Hi,

I have a problem by opening pdf files from my file server (Ubuntu, samba). Every time when i open a pdf file on the file server adobe reader craches. When i copie the file to my local system then the PDF-file opens without any problem and it does not crash.

When adobe reader crashes then i got following errors:

- Not enough data for a picture (Nicht genügend Daten für ein Bild)

- An error occurred while reading the stream (Beim lesen des Streams ist ein Fehler Aufgetreten)

- A graphic error (Ein Grafik Fehler)

- etc.

But i can open files in other format from the file server without a problem and crash.

Is theire someone who has the same problem and finds a solution to solve this kind of errors?

Thank you!

Hi Heath,

Sadly, there is currently no support for Reader on Ubuntu.

You may check if there are any other PDF viewers available for Ubuntu. For feedback/Future request, you may use this link: Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Is there a resolution to this problem yet? It has been an issue for me for several weeks now without a resolution. I have tried everything that has been shared with no success. It is now affecting my productivity as I can not open and pdf documents. Please do something.

Hi Tariq,

I am using windows and i open shared folders and files directly from the ubuntu server on my windows PC. Whenever i open the pdf files from the shared folder i get the error after a while but when i copy it to my local windows PC then the files open without an error or crash.

Is there one solution for this kind of errors?

Best Regards

Hi Heath,

There seems to be some issue with the shared drive and Reader communication. Not sure where the fault lies at this point. You may try whitelisting the shared drive path. To do that, launch Reader> Edit>Preference>Security(Enhanced) . You may also try playing with Sandbox Protection settings. Each time you make a change try re-launching Reader and check again.

Let us know how it works for you.
