We have a VB.NET application compiled in VS2017 that uses the Microsoft browser control to display pdf files. Initial display of pdf always works. However randomly when users click on link within the pdf file to access another pdf file the software crashes. There are 19 systems that run Windows 7 Embedded 'P' version. The embedded computers have 2GB RAM. We only have reports of problems from one site. The error information generated in the Windows Event Log is as follows:
Error Path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\ActiveX\AcroPDFImpl.dll
Error Module: AcroPDFImpl.dll
Version: 19.10.20091.53467
Time stamp: 0x5c538453
Exception Code: 0xc0000005
Fault Offset: 0x00022a8c
Faulting Process id: 0xd6c (have also seen 0xd40 and 0x1250)
The checkbox for "Enable Protect Mode at Startup" is checked as we have never had reason to uncheck it.
The browser on the controllers is IE11. Registry keys to modify IE Browser control IE Emulation to IE11 have not yet been changed so the Microsoft browser control defaults to IE7 emulation.
Please let me know if any other info would help to determine what is happening.
