Adobe Reader DC NEVER Works

New Here ,
Nov 06, 2016 Nov 06, 2016

I have never in my life encountered a worse, more un-useable program than Abode Acrobat Reader DC. I have a brand new PC running Windows 10, and every program I use works flawlessly--except Acrobat Reader DC. It crashes every single time I use it. A box always pops up saying that Adobe is searching for a solution to the problem, but no solution is ever available. Can I go back to the old version of Adobe Reader, which actually worked? I'm astonished that Adobe could put out such a horrible, un-useable product.

Hi lukeh68055543 ,

Could you please try following step and see if that resolves the issue:

Check for updates, launch Reader>navigate to Help menu>select Check for updates. If there is an update available, download and install it and then launch Reader and see if its working fine.

Does Reader DC crashes when you launch it or when open any pdf in it?

What is the version of Reader DC installed on the machine?

To check the version of Reader, navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

If you want to go back to previous version (however its not recommended), you might try removing traces of Reader DC using Cleaner tool found here: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Restart the computer.

Reinstall Reader XI from here: Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution (select your operating system, language, and version accordingly)

Let me know the results.

Thank You,

Shivam

I'm not running Windows 7. I'm running Windows 10. I've tried your troubleshooting steps, but there is no option under compatability settings for Windows 10--only 7 and 8.
