Adobe reader dc not printing

New Here ,
Dec 11, 2016 Dec 11, 2016

I have  a Late 2011 MacBook Pro which has a i7 CPU and 16Gb RAM, 1 Tb SSD installed. The problem I get is that when try to print a PDF file with Adobe Reader DC I get an error message which says ‘There are no pages selected to print’ as shown in the Picture.

I have tried re-installing Adobe Reader several times and even tried older versions but with exactly the same error message on printing. I have also tried a complete fresh install of Mac OS, but this hasn’t changed the error either.

I can print the same documents with Foxit reader and PDF Reader Pro Free but I occasionally get a PDF from my bank which Adobe Reader DC will open ( won’t print because of this issue ) but neither Foxit or PDF Reader Pro Free will open at all.

I have seen on the Web that other people have had this issue and have either disabled Enhanced Security within Adobe Readers preferences or set the PDF to print as an image within the Print dialog to resolve the problem but this has not worked for me, I get the same error message with either the print as image selected or the Enhanced security disabled.

I have Adobe Reader DC installed on my Mid 2011 Mac Mini and that uses the same printer, and that prints the same PDFs fine.i get the same error with all three of the printers I have at my work and it will not work with those either.

does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Richardg34864768,

Please unisntall the printer drivers, reinstall and make sure you update to the latest printer driver.

Printer manufacturers offer updated drivers to improve compatibility with newer software, such as newer versions of Reader and Acrobat and so you can check with the vendor for the same

Let me know if the issue still persists.

Thanks,
Supriya

Hi

Yes I have just removed and re-installed the drivers for the printer I use at home, but it didn't make any difference same error. It also had the driver re-installed after I had done the factory reset on my MacBook which still produced the same error. I get this error on all the printers I have access to mostly Epson but HP as well. The PDFs print alright in Foxit PDF reader but I need Adobe Reader as my bank sometimes send me PDFs which Foxit won't open because of security settings I think, so I would really like to get this issue sorted if we can.

I have a similar aged Mac Mini with the same version of Mac OS on it and the same version of Adobe Reader and that prints fine on the same printer

thanks

Richardg34864768,

For testing, please try disabling the root user by following the link below and see if it helps:

How to enable the root user on your Mac - Apple Support

If this does not help, you can enable the same and share the file with us so we can check at our end.

Thanks,
Supriya

Hi

I have tried it with the root user enabled and disabled but both produced the same results. I have shared link one of the PDFs but it does them on all the PDFs I've got.
