Adobe Reader DC "Protect" function not working

Hi just wondering if others are having the same issue. Every time we try to use the "password protect" function it says that adobe encountered an error and must close down. It used to have a popup window after clicking password encrypt but it no longer shows up after updating. Did the repair installation and checked to see if I have the latest version (which I do). Just wondering if this is caused my the most recent update? Or is there a setting that I need to change in order for it to work? Any help is appreciated!

So I just click on the protect button on the right hand side. Then click "encrypt with password" and nothing comes up to proceed with the encryption. There is no error message popping up.

Adobe Acrobat. Whichever has this function, is what I am referring to.

Hi michaell46005753

Adobe Reader DC is a free service and have limited access to tools.

You will not be able to use "Protect" tool in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Could you please confirm if you are using Adobe Acrobat reader DC or Adobe Acrobat DC. You can check the application name at the top of the window.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi michaell46005753

Could you please confirm the dot version of Adobe Acrobat application and OS installed on your system.

Please also share the screenshot of the error message you get when you use Protect tool.

Do you get this error on a particular PDF?

Regards,

Meenakshi

I am on Windows 10. The error message is no longer popping up forcing the application to close. But I am still unable to encrypt with a password. I click on it and nothing pops up for me to proceed.
