Adobe Reader DC Send to email button not working

Hello,

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro DC installed on my computer. I am trying to create a fillable PDF form that has a submit button on it. My goal is to publish this to my school website so people can send it to my email at the ease of a button. I believe I have followed all the necessary procedures. 1. Made a button on the form. 2. Set the action button to submit the form like this: mailto:"email".

Everything seems to be setup correctly, however when I download the PDF on another computer, I click on the submit or send button, and nothing happens. It will allow me to fill in the fillable data lines but the button will do absolutely nothing. The only way it works, is when the PDF is accessed using the computer with DC downloaded on it.

Is what I am trying to do possible? If so, please help!

The submit button won't work in Chrome and other browsers. Users need to download the form to use the submit button.

I had the same issue. Found out it was becuase the following did not precede the email adress (see below and photo):

This was driving me bonkers trying to work out why no other recipient could apply the submit button while all the tests worked from my computer (it has Adobe Pro) thankfully reading these eased my pain that I wasn't alone.

But I've thought outside the box and have found a fix.

In the Edit PDF tool select add/edit link

I placed the link over my submit button & made it invisible.

Select 'custom link' then hit next. At the top go to Actions and apply 'Submit a form' Add and apply like you would with the button creation.

My colleague has given it a few tests and hasn't had a problem. Hopefully this will work for you too.

Unfortunately it still isn't mobile compatible which is may main goal.

I hate to say it on this platform, but I have been using a link to MS Forms when I need the responses accessible as a work around. Adobe needs to find something quickly for online data requests.

The issue is that the "Send" uses Java script. Java has been deemed a security risk and the major browsers are blocking downloaded Java from running when the script call the user's email client. (When you user downloads your form, the Java scrpt is embedded in the form). The Reset or Clear form button still works. If Acrobat is installed on the user machine, there is a setting somewhere that allows the "Send" script to run.

I do not know of a work around.

Good Luck on resolving this issue. In reading the replies regarding this subject matter going back to 2017, I hate to break the news but this isn't the only bug or glitch present in Adobe Reader and Acrobat as it relates to anything having to do with the submit and send email features. As one who has been designing/developing AcroForms in Acrobat since 1993, all I can add is if Adobe put 50% of the effort they devote to their marketing into resolving issues (such as this one), this initial post would probably be non-existent.

I have the same issue with the Submit button. This feature would have been perfect for what I need to do remotely since I am aiming to exercise social distancing precautions where I can. This matter has caused hours of wasted time trying to get it to function properly. Further, I have since spent more funds trying other products. I prefer that Adobe show its' customers the right way to get the Submit function to work as expected/intended. Needed asap - my project is time sensitive. If it is not fixable, please tell us so that we can make other plans to achieve our respective goals. Thank you.

I'm also looking for the answer for this over a year later. Has anyone figured this out in the meantime?
I've tried everything in this thread and others and the submit button still doesn't send the form to the email.

Hi there - I have exactly the same issue and no one can give me a straight answer. I add the button and everything else works - fillable form, etc. - and as soon as I send this to any clients they cannot return the form when they click on the button to send to email. I have followed every instruction mailto: and also send full PDF entire form!

I have a MAC and I am using the latest ADOBE PRO DC version 2018 updates included. Yet still nothing.

Can someone from ADOBE actually help me here please as I am paying a lot of money for this software that seems to have constant bugs and issues for any form I create!?!

Please note this is NOT an issue with MS Office as I am not talking submit button in OUTLOOK but on the actual form created via PRO DC. It appears that only users with PRO can use the SEND button which is clearly pointless as most people have ADOBE Reader only.

Please help me!
