    Hello BTT,

Thank you for sharing the details and sorry for the trouble, try repairing the Adobe Reader installation files from help>repair installation, reboot the machine and check.

For testing purpose: Disable 'Protected Mode at startup' and 'Enhanced Security' from Edit>Preferences>Security(Enhanced) and uncheck these two options>click OK and restart the application and check.

Note: Disabling Protected Mode and Enhanced Security is only for testing purpose, please enable it back.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.

    Hello Anand,

unfortunately the repair did not solve the problem.

After disabling (and reenabling them after testing) the security options you proposed, the problem still persists.

I don't know if it's relevant, but attempting to change the security options while the document was open resulted

in adobe crashing. Only when nothing was open, I was able to change the options.

I have found a file uncritical to share with you so you may test it, but in my understanding it is rather a problem

with the installation of adobe itself or the OS than the document.

How do I send a file via personal message? I did not find any "attache file"-button or something similar.

    Thanks,
    BTT

    Hello BTT,

I am sorry for the trouble you had with Adobe Reader.

What is the version of Adobe Reader installed? To identify, refer to Identify the product and its version for Acrobat and Reader DC

Are you experiencing the crash issue while adding the comments in one specific PDF file or is it with all the PDF files?

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version?

Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader 19.010.20098 installed, check for any pending updates of Adobe Reader from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after the update and try again.

If it is specific to one PDF file, is it possible to share the file with us so that we can test it at our end? Share the file by the direct/private message only How Do I Send Private Message

Let us know how it goes with the latest update and share your observation.

    Thanks,

    Anand Sri.

    Hello Anand,

    the version installed is 19.010.20098.

The OS is Windows 7 Pro SP1.

The occurring problem is not specific to the file, different files all show the same result.

Also, there is still another problem regarding comments, we asked this

in another thread ( Kommentar Fehler Acrobat DC ) but to make this more convenient

    I'll ask again here.

Hovering over comments results in an error displayed, rendering the user unable to see or

    edit comments.

    See this Screenshot:

In English this would be "Failed to load an application resource (internal error)."

Every proposed solution did not work.

I'm not allowed to share the file as it contains company related stuff.

The latest version is installed but the problem is still occurring, do you have any

further tips how we may solve it?

    Thanks in advance,

    BTT
