Adobe Reader DC takes thirty seconds to launch

Hi,

Various (but not all) users in our organization are experiencing the following problem:

When launching the Acrobat Reader DC software, either by opening a PDF file or just the application on its own, it'll take at least thirty seconds for the screen to appear.

If this screen stays open, opening PDFs takes a fraction of a second. Closing the application will make one wait for thirty seconds again.

This issue is not experienced by relatively new users, only existing ones. When someone logs in on a different machine with their account, the issue is not there. When someone with no issue log into a machine that has had this problem, they will not have an issue. Reinstalling the application will temporarily solve the issue for users.

I have configured the application to ignore online files and sources, not keep track of recent files and even deleted the recent folders from the registry, but it persists.

At this point I am out of ideas as to where to look for the cause. I hope this sounds familiar to someone here.

Hi,

I just deactivate the "Enable Protected Mode at startup" and now Adobe is working normal, take less than a second to open

Hi,

This does solve the problem. Thank you for your response.

I'll have to figure out if turning off this setting is wise within an organization, but this helps me along tremendously.
