Is anyone else experiencing issues with Adobe Reader after upgrading their OS w/the recent Microsoft patch KB4074598.

Specially opening a PDF via an IE window within an application and receiving Error or trying to print a pdf;

There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exist and try again. (507:507), or (510:510), or (523:523)

-Issue is occurring for any windows 7 machine with KB4074598 installed on any of the adobe reader versions below. I will note that adobe standard dc and pro users are not affected. Disabling the IE plugin forces the PDF to open in reader vs IE which works but disabling the IE plugin is not ideal.

Adobe Reader Versions Tested:

18.9.200044

18.9.200050

18.11.20033

18.011.20038

    Just an update, the only fix found so far is to Disable Protected Mode for adobe reader users entirely however this is not a solution and more of a Band-Aid.

    Any machine utilizing adobe reader w/KB4074598 installed will receive error 507:507, or 523:523 while printing or opening pdf's via an application that opens these pdf's through a web url.

    Adding these web url's to the trusted sites zone has had no effect. Adding them directly to the adobe trusted zone also had no effect. Also running adobe logging and whitelisting the directories mentioned in the logs to full access has had no effect thus far.

    I can see these pdf's are being sandboxed while opening them through the app which forces them open in an IE window utilizing the adobe reader plugin. This issue does not occur for standard or pro users.

    Can adobe provide the differences for Protected Mode between adobe reader dc & adobe standard dc or pro?

    Microsoft is blaming the issue on Adobe and I havnt had any response thus far from adobe.

    If protected mode is disabled for adobe reader users it works fine. If the user is on standard dc or pro dc it works fine. So what is the difference between protected mode on Standard DC or Reader DC?

    I've tried white listing urls, added sites to trusted sites etc nothing works. The application is basically just opening url's which are PDF files from a centralized location. The same urls load fine outside of the app within IE but within the app when launched you get a 507:507 or 523:523

    Is there a method to allow an .exe to bypass protected mode without disabling protected mode entirely?

    Thanks
