Hi there, I've the same error here, but it is not for Adobe Reader, but for Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Have you found a solution for this in the meantime?

Below my updater log:

Another strange thing is that I've Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.2) and Adobe Acrobat X Standard (10.1.5) on my System. For Adobe Acrobat X, I've got today also a update which was successfully.

Anyone any idea about this?

Try to temporary disable any backup or antivirus software before checking for updates.

My guess is that some program on your system prevents Acrobat Updater from locking Manifest.

What Acrobat version are you trying to update.  From your log it's unclear if 9.x or 10.x

After disabling anti-virus I ended up "right-clicking" on the icon for Acrobat X Pro (I also have XI Pro installed) and selecting "Run As Administrator".

It is now updating properly.

I simply opened Acrobat Pro as admin, checked for updates, it found a new update.  I clicked install and then it worked fine.

I tried endlessly to run this update.  It seems that running as admin did the trick for me.

Just want to add to this. I had to find the Acrobat.exe in the Program Files Adobe Folder, right click and then run as Administrator. For some reason the OS wouldn't let me right click/run as Admin from anywhere else (e.g., Start Menu nor Task bar). Worked.

I have shut of my virus protection, shut off my VPN and ran the program as admin and still getting error message. This is a new computer build and I have no clue why I'm having these issues with the program. Will you shed some light on this for me?
