Greetings,

After installing adobe reader via the installer this morning, from https://get.adobe.com/reader, i did a full system scan with bitdefender and found the malware:   Gen:Trojan.Brresmon.Gen.1

I've emailed bitdefender support to find out if it is a false alarm.  the file that was infected was c:\program files (x86)\adobe\acrobat reader dc\reader\acrocef\rdrcef.exe

any reason why this might be flagged as a false alarm?

As long as you downloaded from the Adobe site (seems that you did), I would suspect it is a false report. Make sure your virus definitions are up to date and if they are, contact the company that makes the software and report it.

You were correct.  I submitted a ticket to Bitdefender. They checked the file and said it was clean.  Thanks.
