Application Error with Adobe Reader

New Here ,
Feb 15, 2023 Feb 15, 2023

Good morning and greetings. I work for a large healthcare company in sunny Central Florida as a member of their IT department and we have stumbled into a strange issue concerning Adobe Reader. A large number of our users across the organization have encountered an application error related to the program. It seems to happen with a number of different versions of the application on multiple devices running Windows 10 Pro version 10.0.19042. Auto updating has been disabled for the application and no Windows updates have been performed since the creation of this post. I have attached a screenshot of the error to this post for reference.

The only solution we have found is to reinstall the application to a newer version, 22.001.20169 that upgrades to 22.003.20314. This may not be the most current release as far as Adobe is concerned, but it is what our company considers current. While we are grateful we can fix the issue, we are not certain what is causing it and appreciate any feedback the users here can provide. Please let me know if you have any comments, questions, or concerns and I would be happy to address them.

Also, I looked in the Windows Event Viewer to see if it had any useful information and decided to paste it below incase it helps. Thank you in advance!

The program AcroRd32.exe version 22.2.20191.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

Hi @IT Doctor

Sorry for the delay in response.

Looking at the description, it seems you have already managed to fix the issue. If you are still experiencing the same problem, as suggested in reference discussions. You must install the most recent application version, following an uninstallation and reinstallation.

Also, the cause of this error and error code represents is "permission denied."  The systems should have Admin rights.

  • Try this (Windows 10). Hit the Windows key + R to get the Run box.
  • Type %APPDATA%\Adobe right click>Properties> Security> User account should have Admin rights.

Thanks,

Akanchha
