Blue background in preview and Acrobat (view) document (bug)

Configuration:

Adobe Acrobat is the default (only) PDF viewer.

System: Windows 7; current updates (Including: Edge)

V: 21.11.20039.0 [?]

Bug:

When explorer highlights a pdf document (and the preview of the doc is displayed) and/or when a document is opened: Adobe Acrobat changes the white (background color) to blue (pale).

It is unclear when this single color change (white as background to blue)  – action started or what instigated it; to my knowledge I’ve not enabled any such feature on a system / program level.  There is no highlights, no checkboxes and this occurs with every PDF both ‘old’ and ‘new’ (new created).

This ‘blue’ hue makes reading (viewing) documents with shading difficult. Worse; if there is blue on blue – it is all but impossible to view.

Where did this come from; and more important: how to get rid of it?  I treat this as a ‘bug’ as it is a undesired ‘feature’ with unexpected results; specifically: Why should a white document appear blue if I've not made a (system) change; and why shoud the preview of the document be blue?

This 'change' (blue highlight) now occures with all PDF documents; in both preview (explorer) and document view (Acorbat).

Attached are two screen shots; one preview (Windows explorer) and one in Accrobat.

I believe it has something to do with windows updates or installing new drivers - graphic ones to be more specific.

Had the same issue, all of the sudden half of the pdf previews in file explorer started to be covered by a blue overlay.

Same day I installed a program that searches for drivers that are expired and need an update. It made a list of 10 drivers, downloaded them automatically and installed them all at once afterwards.

The issue occured after the installation. I started uninstalling the new drivers and finally came across "Standard monitor PNP"  or something similar to that.

When I returned to previous driver version from year 2006, the previews turned to normal transparent/white backgrounds again.

Just to be sure, I installed the newer version of the "Standard monitor PNP" driver back again and the blue background on pdf previews showed up yet again.

So I'd suggest to either go straight for that specific driver and check if the older versions solve the issue or start checking the main graphic card drivers for any changes.

To be more precise, the application tried to change Standard monitor PNP driver from Microsoft (date of the driver 2006) to a Standard monitor PNP driver provided by Iiyama (date of the driver 2012) .

The issue occured in 2024 and I'm writing both the posts in 2024 - so there's no misunderstanding.
