Question

Cannot print to pdf

Hello,

I know this might sound a bit unusual, but I’m currently opening a PDF in Adobe Acrobat and attempting to use the Print to PDF function - either using Microsoft Print to PDF or Adobe PDF as the printer - to create a new PDF version of the same document.

However, I’m encountering the attached error each time I try this, regardless of which print-to-PDF option I use.

I have followed the troubleshooting pages steps - and still no luck.

Any help or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Can't you use "Save as"?

Hi there

Hope you are doing well and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues while printing to PDF.

I have checked your Adobe account and found that you have Creative Cloud All Apps plan.

Microsoft Print to PDF is an MS process of PDF creation and it is not dependent on Adobe. As described, you are getting the error message 'This document could not be printed' while using Adobe PDF printer, Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.

Also, check the document restriction summary and see for any kind of restriction is applied.

  1. Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro
  2. Go to Document properties (Ctrl+D) > Under Security tab, check for any restriction applied on the document.

Also, go through the help page https://adobe.ly/4jUao8g and make sure you are using the latest version (25.01.205XX) of the Acrobat application. Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Let us know how it goes.
