Thanks for sharing the image.
You seem to be applying the digital signature in the screenshot shared above. What if you click the arrow next to Adobe pdf on the browse window? Does it give the dropdown menu?
Check on the Fill & Sign > add signature> Image option.
Can you select jpeg here?
Check with a different document, as it could be file specific issue.
Thanks,
Akanchha

It is not possible when you create an appearance for a Digital Id.
It is possible when you add a image at Fill & Sign.

Thank you for reaching out.
The help document you are referring to is for adding a signature under the Fill & Sign tool.
To learn more about digital signatures, please refer to the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/digital-ids.html.
As Bernd Alheit suggested, the option to add an image is not available in Acrobat Reader. You may add only PDF as a signature image when adding a digital signature. You may try converting the image file to PDF and then use it to add a digital signature image.
Hope the workaround helps.
Thanks,
Meenakshi

Thanks for your answer but in the documentation about digital-ids there is no information about the various types to sign, with text, drawing the signature or upload an image.
I hope there will be more information in the documentation about my problem in the future or the posibility to upload image files in Adobe Reader in the future.
