In Adobe Reader, Text commenting in sticky note and highlight has recently begun to work poorly. The text appears in a different size, and text formatting does not work. If an existing comment is edited, all formatting is lost.
Also, existing sticky note icons have changed their size throughout the document, and new stickyt notes cannot be added.
Can someone please explain why this has happened within Adobe Reader on my PC.

We are sorry to hear that you're facing issues while working with annotations.
Could you please provide us the version of Adobe Reader that you're working on?
Also, it would be a great help if you can provide small screen recording of the issue for us to better understand the problem.
Thanks,
Prashant.

I am using Adobe Reader Continuous Release, Version 2023.008.20458, 64-bit.
I'll try to explain the problems in more detail.
I use commenting within highlight and sticky note frequently. It's in the last few days that it's stopped working properly.
In Preferences>Commenting, I have the font set at Arial, 12 point.
When I highlight text and add a comment, the text size of the comment is as expected, until I press the space bar, then the text reverts to a smaller size, and any formatting (bold, italic, underline, superscript, subscript) is lost.
A similar problem occurs when editing an existing comment attached to highlighted text.
If I add a sticky note and add a comment attached to it, then when closing the text box, the sticky note (and comment) disappears.
Also, throughout a document that has highlighted text and sticky notes, the positions of the highlighting and sticky note icons have changed slightly, and the sticky note icons have changed their size.
These are the problems I have noticed. There may be more, but presently I'm withholding from using the feature .
I would like to add that writing comments via highlight and sticky note has always had the problem that "remove all formatting" causes the text to become large, which can not be reversed, also if a special character is pasted in (e.g greek character from a symbol font) this will similarly cause subsequent text to become large.
Thanks, I hope this helps.

Hi @Brian34635135w7xh ,
We have addressed the font-size-change issue in our latest release. Please update to the latest Acrobat version 23.008.20470 which contains the fix for this issue.
Regarding sticky comment, we made this conscious call where we do not post empty sticky note in the document.
So if a sticky is added in the document and there is no content in it, we will delete it the next time user click on the document.
The operation of clicking "x" button is equivalent to clicking cancel. that is why the sticky is getting deleted. I request you to please use post button to post the comment. You can use keyboard shortcut as well to post the comment. Keyboard shortcut for posting comment is CTRL+ENTER in win and CMD+ENTER in Mac.
Thanks,
Prashant.

Hi Prashant
I've updated adobe reader to the latest version, and used it a few times. Regarding the use of highlight and sticky note, I have found the following additional bugs:
1. When highlighting text then adding a note, the text edit window doesn't open until the cursor leaves the highlighted-text selection box. The same problem occurs with sticky notes.
2. With highlight or sticky note, when writing a comment, if a body of text is selected then deleted using DELETE or BACKSPACE, the text reverts to a small font, and formatting is lost. (If individual characters are deleted using DELETE or BACKSPACE, the problem doesn't occur.)
3. With highlight, when writing a comment, if the comment being entered exceeds two lines, the text edit box closes, and the text is lost, even though the icon indicates there is a comment present. A similar thing happens with sticky notes - the aborted comment can sometimes be viewed, but cannot be edited.
4. In highlight, a text comment opened for editing that crosses two pages partially disappears when the cursor is outside the edit box. (I'm uncertain if sticky note behaves similarly.)
5. There is still the historic problem that "clear all formatting" causes the text to be written in a large font size, one that was not specified in the preferences.
I would like to add that these are not harmless bugs - at times, they are causing comments to become lost.
If I find more bugs, I'll report them.
Thanks - Brian

I too am struggling with the "loss of formatting" of my text in Sticky Notes.
I create the note, bold or underline applicable text. Post Sticky Note. Formatting stays.
IF for any reason I re-open the note, all the formatting is wiped out. This is SO incredibily frustrating.

My highlighter has stopped working also the last couple of weeks. The ICON does pop up, but will not work.
