Acrobat Reader: updated to latest version
Windows 10 Pro
MS Office 2016: updated to latest version, ran repair and did uninstall/re install.
When converting pdf to word and chosing word .docx, Acrobat saves the document as a .docx on my drive, but, when I open the file, it opens in "compatability mode." Which I then have to manually convert to .docx for every single file I convert.
This only happens with Adobe. I don't experience this issue with any other software.
I want to be able to have this default to open as a .docx file.

Hi @karaptian
Have you used the Export PDF feature within Acrobat to convert the PDF file to Word, or have you used File Save As or any other shortcut to create the file?
Found a similar issue discussed on the MS forum that has a couple of solutions with an explanation of the exact cause of the problem.
Please go through it and see if it helps.
If it doesn't, then in Acrobat's>Preferences: Go to the "Convert from PDF" section and then select the appropriate format (e.g., Word Document). You will then see the options available for the selected format.
For further investigation, please share one of the PDF files and converted word files (that opens in compatibility mode) with us.
Thanks,
Akanchha
