Question

DC Download says 'a higher version exists' and terminates

My Adobe reader DC kept crashing on my Mac and advise was to re-install.  I deleted the application and used MacKeeper to make sure everything was gone, but when I try to download/install again, I get the message that a higher version already exists on my machine and that the download will be terminated.

I've tried switching off ad-blockers and downloading via another browser but the problem continues.

I've found some instructions on public forums but they are just too technical for me...this seems to be a recurring issue for many others so there must be a simple way to fix this.n I hope!

    Hi Rebeccah,

We apologize for the delay in response to your query.

As shared above, that you have already tried removing the application but it still doesn't work. In this case you need to reset the application's preferences manually.

Trash the Adobe Acrobat Reader (if its there on your machine)

And follow the steps mentioned in help doc to recreate the preferences- How to reset Acrobat Preference settings to default.

Let us know if it still doesn't work.

    Regards,

    Akanchha
