Hi,

We have recently transitioned to SCCM for software deployments from GPO and Adobe Reader is the only program we can't get to work on consecutive versions. Here is our current methodology (in the example, 19.010.20098 is the version):

Download Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Extract using the following command in an Administrator Command Prompt:

AcroRdrDC1901020098_en_US.exe -sfx_o"c:\AdobeFiles" -sfx_ne

Once you've done that, use the Acrobat Customization Wizard to customize your installer. You'll use it to open the .msi file from the folder where you extracted the installation files. When you save your customization, it will create an .ini file and a .mst file in the same folder.

Here's the customization we use:

  • Personalization options
    • Suppress display of End User License Agreement (EULA): Checked
  • Installation options
    • Run Installation: Silently (no interface)
    • If reboot required at the end of installation: Suppress reboot
  • Shortcuts
    • Destination Computer > Desktop > Acrobat Reader DC: Right-click and select "Remove"
  • Online Services and Features
    • Disable product updates: Checked
    • Load trusted root certificates from Adobe: Enable & Install silently
    • Disable upsell: Checked

Copy the whole folder to your deployment share and deploy. Your installation program is just setup.exe with no parameters.

I'm using a registry setting for my Deployment Rule.

  • Key: SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-AC0F074E4100}
  • Value: DisplayVersion
  • This registry key is associated with a 32-bit application: Checked
  • Data type: Version
  • This registry setting must satisfy the following rule: Greater than or equal to 19.010.20098

Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated!
